Rare 200-Year Old Bird Cage

What a rarity this is, perhaps the oldest bird cage of it's type we've ever had the pleasure of offering. Our restoration shop advises that the piece is about 200 years old, with wooden bird structures and a very high-quality unsigned mechanism.

It appears to be of Swiss or French manufacture, with a decorated wooden base. In summary, it is as unique as it is wonderful.

Large French Bontems 2-Bird Cages

In Like-New Condition!

These fabulous bird cages were made by Bontems of Paris in the late 1800's.

Each stands about 23" tall, and 12" diameter at the base.

The brass cages, with embossed repousse bases, have been polished and lacquered to prevent tarnishing. The birds have been cleaned and serviced and new belllows installed. As shown in the pictures, two have access doors that can be opened and closed.

Recently professionally restored and fully operational, you may never see any in finer condition.

Swiss 3-Bird Cage

A rare and unusual 3-bird cage, in a tall (26") cage, that is coin-operated on a U.S. Quarter, and runs on electricity rather than manual winding.

Made in St. Croix, Switzerland about 50 years ago by Reuge, who are know for their fabulous bird feathering. In excellent condition. You can also have the coin-op bypassed so that it can simply operate with an on-off switch, with a modification to the internal mechanism if desired.

3-Birds in Cage

An unusual and decorative bird cage, with three colorful animated birds chirping away on their perches. A very nice, large, modern example.
