A Combination Music Box and Phonograph

Several music box manufacturers, such as Regina and Mermod Freres, made an effort to sustain their manufacturing efforts by combining their music boxes with the newly emerging technology of disk phonographs. 

The results were named Reginaphones, Miraphones, etc.  Unfortunately for these companies, the music box era was ending, and by 1920 they all but ceased to exist. However, these interim "hybrids" were interesting and unusual instruments and highly prized by collectors today.
